Family Session in the Northern Nevada Desert
//Oasis Bound
Jen submitted an inquiry for a desert family session and my heart skipped a beat! Desert family sessions are always such a vibe and I love to watch how much fun each family ends up having in a simple desert! Jen, her husband Brandon and son Emmett live in Roseville, CA and she found me through Instagram! She is a military wife, her husband is in the Air National Guard going on 20 years and also works for the government. Being that he is gone so much, it’s difficult for them to have a normal life, but they are managing well! Having family photos is very special and important to them. She teaches at a public Montessori school and over half of of her class are English language learners/refugees from Afghanistan, Syria and Africa! She teaches first, second and third grade. They enjoy traveling together and they’re looking forward to doing that more as a family! 🙂
We did a morning session this day and drove up during sunrise. Emmett brought his special little toy fox which of course I wanted to take a few shots with 🙂 He did amazing climbing up and down all the rocks and walking through the sage brush. It was so special to document them hanging out as a family in a beautiful location. Of course, I also got some traditional shots for them, but shooting documentary style allows for them to have those special moments of hanging out together authentically. Holding hands while walking across a narrow rock to skipping and swinging! We had so much fun hanging out and getting to know each other – They are such a sweet and beautiful family inside and out! I feel so grateful to have had the opportunity to capture their story!
