Your time is such a gift, and I’m so grateful you’re here.
I’m Kat, a documentary at heart, wedding photographer based in Chicago’s north shore suburbs. I earned my MBA & hold a BS in Community Health Sciences. In 2005, I started my photography journey on the coast of California capturing & selling landscape photography. After spending years in Northern California and Northern Nevada and realizing my heart belonged in documenting people, I eventually found my way back home with my husband, our two little girls, our sweet old Jack Russell rescue and lovin' every minute of it.
I believe the most meaningful photographs happen when you feel comfortable enough to simply be yourselves. That's why I truly love taking the time to get to know each of my couples. I gently guide when needed, creating a beautiful balance of organic moments and intentional portraits, documented on both digital and film. My heart goes into every part of this experience.
Giving back has always been an important part of this business. Before becoming an arborist, my husband spent years as a wildland firefighter, so supporting the Wildland Firefighter Foundation feels especially meaningful to us. A portion of every booking is donated to support the firefighters and families who make incredible sacrifices every day.
I. faith
Faith is intertwined with my identity and God has showed me who I was meant to be. I am inspired by all of God's creations.
ii. film
I'm drawn to the texture and nostalgia of film, and the beautifully imperfect way it preserves a memory.
iii. connection
The relationships behind the photographs will always matter most to me.
After the sudden loss of my father, everything shifted. Photography became more than creative expression. It became a way to preserve connections and memories. That experience changed the way I document life, teaching me that photographs become some of the most meaningful things we leave behind.
When my first daughter was born, I faced a crossroads: continue my full-time career or fully pursue photography while being present for motherhood. I chose the path that had always been calling me, and now I get to do work I love while cherishing life with our little girls.
Together, those chapters shaped not only why I photograph weddings, but how I do.
The older I get, the more I notice how quickly life moves. Photography has become a way of holding onto the moments that might otherwise slip by unnoticed.
My work feels lived in, alive.
"She didn’t just document our wedding; she captured the emotions, the energy, and all the love in the room."
